Your Relaxation is the Key!
Every freediver starts with relaxation breathing techniques in courses, in training, before competitions and single recort attempts. With time every athlete gains individual experience in relaxation techniques. After learning from each other you might try other techniques, copy the one or another way to calm yourself down. You learn how different your relaxation can work out on different days with different conditions for you. Differencies that influence the reliability of your relaxation techniques before performing.
This is even part of your learning process! You are taught to accept individual conditions for your freediving performance. Not every day the same programm works out for you the same way. Many aspects affect your preparation and dive within every moment. This appears unquestioned. Everyone of us figures out every time underwater, what can affect my performance! Is it distraction from my focus? Is it a quick thought from a discussion I had before? Is it some different body feeling such as a upcoming infect resulting in a cold and weakness while diving? It might be an equipment piece or the water temperature or anything else.
How do you Switch Off inner Unease?
Numerous aspects potentially interrupt your dive or preparation phase and can decrease our level of a steady relaxation. When I did my competitions preparation I was easily interrupted by anything such as noise, the judges counting up after starting Statics, people walking around in pool areas, some uneasy energy around freedivers attempting and many other aspects. All of us tried to focus on calming down and associate the upcoming performance. Why is it can be hard to relax before freediving? Have you ever looked deeper into those moments of trying?
Have you ever looked carefully into your inner thoughts while preparing? Your inner images? Your emotions? Do you remember moments of adrenalin shots caused through memories? Adrenalin pulles you out of relaxation immediately! Our enemy adrenalin needs to stay quiet while preparing a dive or doing it.

What are your reasons to get interrupted from relaxation in freediving? Have you been figuring out the single sources of every disturbing emotion, memory, thought, what distracts you from the ease?

And this is important! It is NOT only about YOUR relaxation techniques! Techniques last long, but not forever and dont reach the root! The root is the source of tension, the reason for the moments of adrenalin coming up. In fact this means, your relaxation training is good and will improve over the years, however it cannot eliminate the sources and reasons for your tension and distraction. To deepen and therefore longlasting improve your relaxation in freediving, you need to work out your individual reason for any uneasy moment.
FIND the SOURCE of YOUR unease to TRULY RELAX!
While you finetune your relaxation techniques you cannot reach the source of mental disturbances within your relaxation process. Your techniques work like a blanket on your inner world. But as soon as you are under water, this blanket can be pushed aside through a mental blockage coming up! Caused through the awareness of breathholding under water or the depth or the temperature or a memory or a current issue you are dealing with and any other personal symptom you are carrying around. If this happens, your relaxation is interrupted. You are distracted.
Release YOUR SOURCE of UNEASE to TRULY RELAX!
Just imagine you would not have those uneasy moments of deeper adrenalin episodes within your performance anymore. You can use your relaxation techniques with no problem. Exactly this is what I want you to be able to do!

To reach that goal you better release your inner emotional blockages. No, this is not done through your relaxation preparation. Inner blockages you can call each of them trauma. It can be significant traumas or little ones, which still pop up and interact with you, when you do not need or expect them. You want them to not come up and interrupt you? So you better say good bye to them forever!
